NSTP INLAMES THE CANCER THAT IS ROTC
(Position Paper of Abolish! Network for te abolition of ROTC on the National Service Program bill)
We have towed the line on the issue of Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) - ABOLISH IT.
The House Bill 3593, or the NSTP Bill, a consolidated bill of legislators in the Lower House, is far worse than the present program of the military institution.
HB 3593 does not pull ROTC out of the academic curriculum. However, the NSTP remains to be COMPULSORY. It maintaned the military institution running unscathed. The culture of corruption and threats of violatin an assult long condemned by the students was not eradicated but rather nriched with the requirement of FEMALE STUDENTS taking the program.
Cases of corruption are not resolved but doubled. They are reinforced with more students, this time men and women, as unwilling victims to red tape and other forms of harrasment.
Furthermore, the NSTP fortifies the military's stronghold over the program. The Deparment of Defense has been empowered to take full control over the NSTP. Henceforth, the militarist mindset being rammed down the students throats is upheld. If not stopped, students will again choke at their twisted concepts of volunteerism, patriotism, and social responsibility. The very system being heaved by male students cadets will enforced on women students.
The injudicious process of the NSTP only delivers the real objective of the government, through is unthinking legislators, to pacify the students dissent and mislead the national campaign to abolish the cancer, that is, ROTC.
